Phoenix Contact Distributed Network Protocol (DNP3)

DNP3 protocol was designed to efficiently transport data from a remote location, such as a substation, and report information back to a master location over various physical media (fiber, Ethernet, radios, cellular, etc.)

The DNP3 protocol was developed for the utility sector and is commonly used in the electric, water, and process industries. These industries require critical SCADA systems that are both responsive and resilient. Its main purpose is to allow communication from multiple vendor platforms so that data can be aggregated into one space (i.e., SCADA system).

FEATURES
  • Support for added network security
  • Ability to communicate from remote sites to multiple master sites
  • Available on multiple Phoenix Contact products
  • Convert DNP3 to other protocols
