Phoenix Contact MACX MCR Programmable Temperature Transducers

The Phoenix Contact INTERFACE group introduces six new universal temperature transducers. These new additions to the MACX MCR family are loop-powered and have two channels.

The new modules include two non-Ex and two Ex i versions in two different mounting formats: head-mount and DIN rail-mount. The temperature transmitters support more than 28 different temperature sensors, plus the modules will also accept -20mV to 100mV and linear resistance ranges from 10 ohms to 2 kohms.

On the output side is a dedicated 4-20mA signal with HART communication. At just 12.5mm wide, the DIN railmountable modules save space in the cabinet. Also available is a head-mount, hockey-puck format with the same wide operating temperature range of -40 to +85 degrees C. Both Ex and non-Ex DIN-rail mount versions can be ordered preconfigured by the factory, along with certificates of calibration.

The intrinsic safety versions can safely transmit electrical signals from simple temperature sensors in Div. 1 and zone 0 hazardous locations. Because it’s a best practice to convert small, easily distorted temperature signals to a more robust 4-20mA signal as soon possible, the Ex ia versions designed to sit in a Div. 1, zone 0 are close to the sensors themselves. If used in this manner, these modules require another Ex ia 4-20mA repeater (2865340) to get the signal safely out of the Div. 1, zone 0 area.

The MACX Analog isolating transducers were designed for exact conversion, isolation, filtering, and amplification of analog signals. MACX Analog was developed and produced consistently in all phases of the product lifecycle according to SIL specifications for functional safety: That means the highest reliability and safety.
