Pepperl+Fuchs is expanding its portfolio of universal isolated barriers with the HiC2422 intrinsic safety barrier. The new module has two freely configurable channels for analog signals, which means it can be used both as a SMART transmitter power supply for two-wire transmitters and as a current driver for valve positioners. This dual functionality reduces inventory requirements and ensures cost savings. With the HiC2422, analog inputs from position feedback sensors and the digital output can be managed by a single device. The module can be operated in either current sink or current source mode, which can be easily selected via DIP switches on the side of the module. This considerably extends the range of control systems with which the device can be used. The HiC2422 is the only configurable 2-channel module for AI and AO signals on the market.
